Teaching methods

Practical and theory classes

Master classes explain and analyze the concepts of theory, and practical classes consist of analyzing cases to be resolved in class debates.

Seminars, Workshops and Conferences

Seminars are specific theme-related courses in which some of the subjects in the study plan are dealt with more broadly, as complementary and more in-depth issues.

Workshops are debates-discussions led by a guest speaker on a specific subject of current affairs in international society which are organized around the following scheme:
-Preparation: reading material is handed out to students which will be used to prepare a discussion script on a given subject.
-Presentation of the essential aspects of the subject by a specialist.
-Debate on the subject by all those present at the workshop.

Conferences will be addressed by experts with a high level of knowledge in international issues (holding high positions in national and international civil service, University professors…).

Introduction to research

Special importance is focused on research applied to International Studies. By preparing short written works (2 to 5 pages) linked to the subjects discussed at the seminars and the Research Report (approximately 40 pages), providing a broader, more thorough study which aims to consolidate the knowledge acquired in the Master expressing them in the analysis of a specific subject.

Internship programme

The programme fosters and supports internship periods at International Organizations and Institutions linked to International Cooperation. The students of the Master will benefit from the cooperation agreements signed with several International Agencies in the System of the United Nations and other International Organizations as well as with NGOs or public agencies in the city of Barcelona or surrounding areas. These programmes are always limited to the availability of places and projects of interest in the subsequent Entities.

For internship periods conducted outside Spain, the students in this Master who are chosen to do so may apply for travel expenses to reach their destination. These grants are subject to availability in each annual budget.
