The Centre of International Studies (CEI) of Barcelona was created in December 1987 by the Spanish Foreign Office, the University of Barcelona and the savings bank Caixa d'Estalvis i Pensions de Barcelona "la Caixa".

Its basic spheres of activities are education and training, research and the promotion of debate in International Relations, promoting the relationship between the business world, the diplomatic world and the academic and institutional world.
