Chile is a Democratic Republic<\/strong> whose capital is Santiago de Chile. The territory, located in the extreme southwest of South America, is composed of 15 regions, which are divided into 54 provinces and 346 communes, housing 18 million inhabitants.<\/p>\n

In relation to the Human Development Index of the country, between 1980 and 2015 life expectancy in Chile has grown 12 years, reaching an average of 81.5 years.<\/p>\n

As for the economic situation<\/strong>, Chile’s main trading partners are China, the US, Japan, South Korea and Brazil. The main export is made of minerals (more than 50%), with copper being the main product, accounting for 22.7% of total exports.<\/p>\n

In relation to the politics<\/strong> of this country, after the end of the military dictatorship and the transition to democracy, it has governed mostly center-left politics. Michelle Bachelet has been President of the Republic of Chile since March 2014.<\/p>\n

Chile and Spain maintain excellent bilateral political relations<\/strong>, characterized by a high level of mutual understanding, independent of the political changes in both countries, being intense the exchange of reciprocal visits.<\/p>\n

The Hon. Mr. Carlos Robles Fraga<\/strong>, Ambassador of Spain to Chile, will present the current situation and relations between Chile and Spain on a commercial and diplomatic level.<\/p>\n
