{"id":2957,"date":"2018-06-21T09:46:00","date_gmt":"2018-06-21T09:46:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ceibcn.com\/2018\/06\/cei-and-american-university-conference-international-law-commission\/"},"modified":"2018-06-21T09:46:00","modified_gmt":"2018-06-21T09:46:00","slug":"cei-and-american-university-conference-international-law-commission","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ceibcn.com\/en\/sin-categoria\/cei-and-american-university-conference-international-law-commission\/","title":{"rendered":"CEI and American University Conference: International Law Commission"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Because of the initiative of the member of the Commission, eminent professor and former dean of the Washington College of Law of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.american.edu\/soc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">American University<\/a>, <strong>Dr. Claudio Grossman<\/strong>, and the Academic Director of the CEI, of the <strong>Master&#8217;s in Diplomacy and International Public Service<\/strong>, and professor of the Faculty of Law of the UB, <strong>Dr. Helena Torroja<\/strong>, has begun a line of work in the CEI aimed at studying current issues in the phase of codification and progressive development within the framework of the <a href=\"http:\/\/legal.un.org\/ilc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">International Law Commission<\/a> of the Organization of Nations United.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>One of its first projections has been the <strong>celebration of a joint Conference<\/strong> between some students of the <a href=\"\/masters\/master-in-diplomacy-and-public-service-international-face\">Master in Diplomacy and International Public Service<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcl.american.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Washington College of Law<\/a>. The Conference took place by videoconference last April.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-2949\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ceibcn.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/expo1.png\" alt=\"Conference CEI - American University\" width=\"600\" height=\"375\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ceibcn.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/expo1.png 640w, https:\/\/www.ceibcn.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/expo1-300x188.png 300w, https:\/\/www.ceibcn.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/expo1-150x94.png 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Those students who voluntarily joined the initiative, doing their <strong>Master Final Project on topics of the ILC,<\/strong> under the direction of the professors <strong>Dr. &Aacute;ngel Rodrigo<\/strong> and <strong>Dr. Marta Abeg&oacute;n<\/strong>&nbsp;presented the following topics:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>THE ROLE OF THE PRACTICE OF NON-STATE ACTORS IN THE FORMATION OF THE INTERNATIONAL CONSUETUDINARY RULES, by <strong>Claudia Cariello.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>THE PROTECTION OF THE ENVIRONMENT AFTER THE ARMED CONFLICTS: THE TREATMENT AND ELIMINATION OF THE REST OF WAR IN THE SEA, by <strong>Yahaira Guzm&aacute;n.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>LIMITS OR EXCEPTIONS TO THE IMMUNITY OF CRIMINAL JURISDICTION OF STATE OFFICIALS BASED ON THE CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY COMMISSION, by <strong>Mikhayela Podlesnyk.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>THE PROCESS OF THE PROVISIONAL APPLICATION OF THE GLOBAL ECONOMIC AND COMMERCIAL AGREEMENT AT THE EUROPEAN AND STATE LEVEL, by <strong>Thomas Wimmesberger.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>After the presentation of each student, both Professor Grossman and the students of the <strong>Washington College of Law<\/strong> formulated questions and comments, establishing a fruitful dialogue.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-2952\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ceibcn.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/expo12.png\" alt=\"Conference CEI - American University\" width=\"600\" height=\"375\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ceibcn.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/expo12.png 640w, https:\/\/www.ceibcn.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/expo12-300x188.png 300w, https:\/\/www.ceibcn.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/expo12-150x94.png 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In addition, it is planned to <strong>attend the next session of the ILC in Geneva<\/strong>, during the first week of July, of these students together with professors Dr. Helena Torroja and Dr. Angel Rodrigo. There they&rsquo;re going to participate in some of the sessions of the ILC and they&rsquo;re going to attend the commemorative events of the 70th anniversary of this body. They&rsquo;re also having the opportunity to share and personally meet the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcl.american.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WCL<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcl.american.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> <\/a>students and Professor Grossman and Professor Jennifer de Laurentiis.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>We are very pleased with this collaboration with Professor Claudio Grossman and his students at the WCL, which is so enriching for the students of the Master in Diplomacy.
