Catalonia and the European Union

1 Sep 2015

Next September 8 will be the Day “Catalonia and the European Union” within the framework of the commemoration of the thirtieth anniversary of the integration of Spain in the then European communities. The aim is to carry out a double reflection on what has been shown and can continue to represent for Catalonia this integration in terms of progress and economic, political and social development, and continuity options of this integration in the context of the current political situation in Catalonia.

The Centre for International Studies (CEI), in collaboration with the “la Caixa” Foundation, is holding the conference ‘Catalonia and the European Union’ as part of the commemoration of the thirtieth anniversary of Spain’s integration into the then European Communities. The conference will look at both what this integration has meant, and may continue to mean, for Catalonia in terms of economic, political and social progress and development, and the options for the continuity of this integration in the context of the current political situation in Catalonia.
