Volume 4 of the Tribuna Internacional collection contains the main talks and presentations offered at the conference on Central America jointly organised by the CEI and the ”la Caixa” Foundation. The conference featured leading Spanish and Central American specialists, whose presentations and participation in the various panel discussions helped to ensure high-level debate and reflection.
The volume includes the talks by Professor Tuglio Halperin-Donghi, on the twenty key years of recent Central American history; Professor Francisco Aldecoa, on the peace and security dimensions of the new Central American regionalism; Professor Antonio Remiro Brotons, on the institutions of Central American integration and and the future thereof, and by the diplomat Manuel Montobbio, on policy coherence in the peace processes in El Salvador and Guatemala. These talks largely served as the guiding thread for the conference, which was organised around framework talks that helped to focus the discussion sessions on each country (Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panamá) and their respective means of political, economic and social development.
