Japan is one of the major multilateral international cooperation structures; is a member of the United Nations and the various funds and programs (UNICEF, UNCTAD, UNDP, UNHCR, UNEP, etc.), institutes (UNICRI, UNITAR, etc.), commissions, specialized agencies (ILO, FAO, WHO , UNESCO) etc. that make up the system. Also part of the major international financial organizations economic, energy, etc.
Its external relations are marked by the dual economy and security. Japan maintains strong diplomatic and security link with the US through US Security Agreements – Japan, made after World War II.
Although exports and imports of goods and services only account for 16% and 17% respectively of GDP, Japan is the fourth largest exporter and importer of goods (taking the EU as one country). Japan is an important market, and offers great growth potential for Spanish companies and in turn Spain is the third European tourist destination for the Japanese.
