Closing ceremony of the course “The internationalisation of the local world”

The closing ceremony of the first edition of the course “The internationalisation of the local world: practices and tools to promote the foreign action of municipalities“, jointly organised by the Catalan Association of Municipalities (ACM) and CEI International Affairs, was held this week.

Throughout the course, students acquired key tools to strengthen the international projection of the Catalan municipalities they represent.

The closing ceremony took place at the CEI headquarters – finca Agustí Pedro i Pons – where the participants presented their final projects. Afterwards, they received their diplomas from Mr. Joaquim Llimona, Director General of CEI; Mr. Andrea Noferini, Coordinator of the Preparation for the Diplomatic Career Examination of CEI; and Ms. Mireia Huerta, Technical Responsible for External Projection of the ACM.

The course, structured in 17 sessions and 52 teaching hours, addressed four main thematic blocks: the contextualisation of the local world in the framework of global governance; city diplomacy, decentralised cooperation and international networks; the role of local entities in the European institutional context; and the tools to promote internationalisation strategies.

With the success of this first edition, both the CEI and the ACM reaffirm their commitment to offer specialised training to enhance the active role of municipalities in the face of global challenges.
