This morning, the students of the Master’s Degree in Diplomacy and International Organizations (an official degree from the University of Barcelona) attended the lecture entitled “Palestine’s Maritime Rights in the Face of Israel’s Abusive Control: A Way Forward,” organized as part of the “Aula Mediterrània” series of the European Institute of the Mediterranean (IEMed).
The session featured Dr. Mutaz M. Qafisheh, Professor of International Law at the Faculty of Law of Hebron University, who analyzed the legal and political challenges Palestine faces in exercising its maritime sovereignty under the restrictions imposed by Israel.
The meeting, moderated by the master’s coordinator, Adrià Reyes, allowed for an in-depth examination of the legal and geopolitical aspects of maritime delimitation in prolonged conflict contexts, highlighting the role of International Law as a fundamental tool for the peaceful resolution of disputes.
From CEI, we would like to thank IEMed for counting on our participation once again in this lecture series, which promotes dialogue, research, and knowledge exchange between both shores of the Mediterranean.
