Closing Ceremony of the 45th Edition of the European Union Course

27 Oct 2025

Today, the CEI held the closing ceremony of the 45th Edition of the European Union Course, after two months of intensive training designed to deepen understanding of the functioning, challenges, and opportunities of European integration. This initiative has been carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, the Hablamos de Europa platform, and the Department of Foreign Action and European Union of the Government of Catalonia.

The ceremony was presided over by the Director of the CEI, Mr Joaquim Llimona, and the Ambassador and Director of the Course, Mr Senén Florensa. The event included a keynote address by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation and Second Vice-Chair of the CEI Foundation Board, Mr Xavier Martí, titled “Spain in the EU: A New Impulse for European Construction in Times of Crisis”. In his remarks, Mr Martí highlighted the strategic role of the CEI as a centre for training and reflection on European integration.

Throughout the course, more than one hundred participants had the opportunity to explore in depth the functioning of European institutions —such as the European Parliament, the European Council, and the European Central Bank— and to examine key topics in the current context, including European fiscal policy, the new Common Agricultural Policy, and the opportunities arising from the EU’s foreign and defence policy. Sessions were led by diplomats, academics, and active experts, offering a practical and up-to-date perspective.

The CEI wishes to thank all participants for their commitment and interest in European affairs, as well as for contributing to a space of debate, learning, and networking focused on the future of the European Union.
