This afternoon, at CineCooperativa Zumzeig cinema, there was a screening of ‘External Action: At the Heart of European Diplomacy’, a documentary that portrays Josep Borrell’s final months as High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, offering an intimate look at the challenges and complexities of European external action.
Directed by Albert Solé, the documentary analyses the challenges facing European diplomacy and offers an unprecedented insight into the daily work of Borrell —also Vice-President of the European Commission— in the final stretch of his term, after more than forty years of involvement in the European project. The film crew accompanied him on his trips to various conflict zones, showing his meetings with international leaders and representatives of civil society.
After the screening, attendees had the opportunity to talk to Albert Solé, who shared his experience behind the cameras and delved into the ins and outs of European foreign policy in a context marked by two major international crises: the war in Ukraine and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in the Middle East.
The event was co-organised by CEI International Affairs and the Catalunya Europa Foundation, and we would like to thank the Secretariat of State for the European Union of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation for participating in the programme.
