Seminar “Quo Vadis Europa?”

5 Nov 2025

Yesterday, the first annual seminar organized by the CEI and Fundació “la Caixa” took place at Palau Macaya, focusing on the role of the European Union in the face of global conflicts led by the United States and on the evolution of the current international security landscape.

The debate featured María Alcover, advisor at the Advisory Centre on WTO Law in Geneva (ACWL), and Patricia García-Durán, Associate Professor at the University of Barcelona, who shared their experience and expertise in international trade and European policy.

Speakers primarily addressed how the European Union can respond to a context marked by the reconfiguration of global trade following the Trump administration and the growing importance of bilateral agreements between states, which are transforming traditional multilateral dynamics.

Overall, this seminar provided an excellent opportunity to reflect on the future of the European project and on the instruments available to strengthen its position in the economic and geopolitical spheres.
