CEI concludes the 46th edition of the European Union course
After two months of training and discussions on the functioning, policies and main challenges facing the European Union, CEI International Affairs held the closing ceremony of the 46th edition of the European Union Course, with a session dedicated to Spain’s role in the EU and the future of European integration in an international context marked by multiple challenges.
The course, funded by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation under the Hablamos de Europa initiative, aims to provide a deeper understanding of how European institutions operate, as well as the policies and challenges facing the Union. The programme is designed for students, public administration professionals, journalists and anyone interested in gaining a better understanding of European affairs.
A closing ceremony focused on Europe’s future
The event, held at CEI’s headquarters and also broadcast online, featured Joaquim Llimona, Director of CEI, who opened the session by highlighting the importance of promoting education and training in European affairs. He also thanked the participants for placing their trust in CEI to further develop their knowledge of the European Union.
Senén Florensa, Ambassador and Director of the Course, emphasised the programme’s long-standing tradition, spanning more than four decades, as well as its high academic standards and its contribution to raising awareness and understanding of the European project.
The closing lecture was delivered by Antonio Rodríguez de Liévana, Director-General for the Coordination of the Internal Market and Other Community Policies at the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, who gave a presentation entitled “Spain in the EU: Renewed Momentum for European Integration in Times of Crisis”.
During his address, he discussed Spain’s role within the European Union and the need to strengthen the European project in response to current challenges, emphasising the importance of defending shared interests and the common values underpinning European integration.

Recognising students’ commitment
The event concluded with the awarding of certificates of attendance to participants, in recognition of their dedication and commitment throughout the course. Afterwards, students and attendees gathered for a glass of cava to celebrate the successful completion of the programme.
