CANCELED COURSE
We interviewed Dr. Marta Abegón, director of the Course on Current Issues in Spanish Foreign Policy, to resolve the most frequent questions about the course:
What is the origin of the Course on Current Issues in Spanish Foreign Policy?
The Course on Current Issues in Spanish Foreign Policy, organized by the CEI International Affairs with the collaboration of the Diplomatic School of Madrid, has been held annually for nineteen years. The purpose of this is to know and discuss the basic lines of current Spanish foreign policy, its projections and main challenges.
What is the methodology of the course?
The Course, which takes place over a week, is structured in five round tables composed of two speakers, one of them with a political or diplomatic profile invited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, and the other from the academic or professional world. This format allows encouraging debate and discussion from diverse perspectives and approaches, as well as allowing their enrichment from the contributions and questions of the attendees.
Who is Course on Current Issues in Spanish Foreign Policy aimed at?
The Course is addressed to the general public and to those interested in international relations, diplomatic relations and Spanish foreign action. Also, the Course is especially interesting for university students, particularly enrolled in Law Studies, Political Science or International Relations.
Can this training be taken in each edition?
No doubts. The format of the course is the same as in previous editions but the themes vary each depending on the agenda, priorities and strategic areas of the external action of Spain. In this sense, not only is there no problem in repeating attendance to the Course, but, on the contrary, this allows us to keep abreast of developments or changes in course, thus obtaining knowledge in perspective.
What knowledge will be obtained by those who attend this edition of the Course?
The participants in the present edition of the Course, apart from knowing the main challenges and strategies of the foreign policy of Spain in their geographical projections of greater interest (Europe, the Mediterranean, the Middle East and Latin America), will have the opportunity to discuss Spain's role in the fight against climate change, as well as its action against the migration crisis in the Mediterranean.
