The extraordinary awards for official master’s degrees are an academic distinction granted each year to students who have demonstrated exceptional academic performance in their official master’s studies.
In accordance with the Regulations for the Awarding of Extraordinary Prizes for Official University Master’s Degree Programmes of the University of Barcelona (available only in Catalan), approved by the Academic Committee of the Governing Council of the University of Barcelona on 8 June 2011 and by the Governing Council of the University of Barcelona on 19 July 2011, and amended by the Academic Committee of the Governing Council of the University of Barcelona on 25 March 2014 and by the Governing Council of the University of Barcelona on 10 April 2014, the CEI, an affiliated centre of the University of Barcelona, opens the call for applications for students who completed their University Master’s Degree in Diplomacy and International Organizations at CEI one year prior to the annual publication of the call.
• Having completed the University Master’s Degree in Diplomacy and International Organizations at CEI in any of the official examination sessions of the corresponding academic year, regardless of the year in which the studies were started.
• Having a final cumulative grade point average equal to or higher than 9.0 (only the grades of the subjects included in the academic record will be considered; additional work or studies, as well as transferred credits, will not be taken into account).
• Having paid the fees for the issuance of the master’s degree certificate.
• Performance in the compulsory subjects of the master’s programme: priority will be given to students with the highest grades in the compulsory subjects of the master’s programme.
• Consistency across subjects: the uniformity of grades across all subjects throughout the entire master’s programme will be assessed.
Once the call has been resolved and the final decision received, the Secretariat of the University of Barcelona will notify the award recipients. Students who receive the award will subsequently be invited to the award ceremony by the Rector’s Office of the University of Barcelona.
The award consists of official recognition in the form of a diploma granted by the University of Barcelona. In accordance with the legislation in force regarding the issuance of official degrees (Royal Decree 1002/2010, of 5 August, BOE 06/08/2010), extraordinary awards cannot be included in university master’s degree certificates. Therefore, the awarding of the extraordinary prize will not be reflected on the degree certificate.
Once the proposal for the awarding of the prize has been made by the CEI awarding committee, the centre will submit it to the General Secretariat of the University of Barcelona before 31 March so that it can be processed by the Governing Council.
The total number of extraordinary awards that may be granted for each programme is one award for every 15 students, or fraction thereof, who meet the previously established criteria.
