CEI International Affairs held the 44th edition of the European Union Course during September and October, a program supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, Hablamos de Europa, and the Department of External Action and European Union of the Generalitat of Catalonia.
The course, offered in both in-person format at the CEI headquarters in Barcelona and with online participation, provided students with the opportunity to delve into the challenges and opportunities faced by the European Union. Supported by a network of diplomats and experts in European policies, attendees explored critical topics such as managing the migration crisis, international relations, and the urgent transition to a sustainable energy model. Additionally, the program encouraged networking opportunities, strengthening professional ties in the field of international relations.
Closing of the 44th Edition
The closing ceremony of this edition was marked by high-level speeches. The director of CEI, Joaquim Llimona, welcomed attendees, followed by the course director and executive president of IEMed, Senén Florensa, who delivered a closing lecture titled “Europe and the Mediterranean: Coinciding and Interrelated Spaces,” highlighting the interdependence between both regions. Also participating were Gerard Vives, Director General of EU Affairs at the Generalitat of Catalunya, and Dr. Conxita Amat, Vice-Rector for Internationalization Policy at the University of Barcelona. The ceremony concluded with remarks from Xavier Martí, Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs and President of the CEI Foundation Board, who emphasized the importance of CEI as a center of training.
