20 Apr 2026

Students of the University-specific master’s degree in sustainability. Environment, society and economy, a program of the University of Barcelona, visited L’Energètica, the public company of the Government of Catalonia dedicated to promoting the energy transition.

During the session, they were able to learn first-hand about the operation and objectives of this entity, focused on promoting a more sustainable energy model based on clean energy and the optimization of electricity generation. Among its main lines of action are the reduction of energy costs for public facilities, as well as its contribution to greater equity and social justice in access to energy.

The visit provided an opportunity to explore in depth some of the major challenges faced by Catalonia in the fight against climate change, with particular emphasis on the promotion of collective self-consumption and the importance of efficiently managing energy surpluses.

This activity proved to be a highly enriching opportunity for the students, as it connected the academic content of the master’s program with real practical cases, thereby strengthening their understanding of current challenges in sustainability and the energy transition.
