Gemma Pinyol Puig is a political scientist with more than 20 years of experience in the field of development cooperation, combining research, monitoring and evaluation. She obtained a Master of Arts in Development Management and Evaluation by the University of Antwerp with a (published) dissertation on civil society participation in shrinking democratic civic spaces.

She has worked as staff and performed advisory roles for a large number of development cooperation agencies including the EU, World Bank, UNICEF, and relevant international non-profit organisations, among others. She has extensive experience in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, Pacific and Caribbean. Her areas of expertise are related to democratic development, civil society, aid architecture and Gender equality and women’s empowerment.
