Mariateresa Silvi

CEI Professor and Researcher in Environmental and Climate Policy at Ghent University

Mariateresa Silvi is a CEI Professor specializing in climate and equality policies. She also serves as a postdoctoral researcher and European Green Deal Officer at the Department of Economics, Ghent University.
She holds Master’s degrees in Economic and Social Sciences from Bocconi University and in Political Philosophy from Pompeu Fabra University, as well as a PhD in Applied Economics from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. In 2016, she was a visiting scholar in residence at the Center for Environmental Policy at American University in Washington, D.C.
Her research focuses on climate and environmental policies, integrating theories and methods from environmental, ecological, and behavioral economics. She has contributed to several international research projects, including Horizon Europe initiatives and Belgian FWO-funded studies. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals such as Energy Economics and the Journal of Environmental Policy and Governance.
In addition to her academic work, she brings over 12 years of consulting experience with ethical businesses and international organizations—primarily with the UN World Food Programme, as well as the Union for the Mediterranean.
